Picolo Jet-X is a new video capture board dedicated to PC based multiple-channel DVR. This 64-bit 133 MHz PCI-X bus board captures simultaneously four video streams and compresses them in a JPEG format in real time. With up to three video expansion brackets, the Picolo Jet-X also manages quick switching between up to sixteen cameras. It accepts standard composite color (PAL, NTSC) or monochrome (CCIR, EIA) video formats. The Picolo series generates bitmaps in all popular color formats such as RGB, YUV, planar or packed. The Picolo series video capture boards are designed to drastically simplify the design of video surveillance applications. TTL I/O lines and watchdog are provided for system integration and the Picolo Jet-X is compatible with the MIO module. The Euresys boards come with DirectShow filters and the Windows and Linux MultiCam drivers.

Streaming and compression with four simultaneous video digitizers

The Picolo Jet-X is able to simultaneously digitize four video signals, to compress them into JPEG or MotionJPEG format and to send the resulting digital data in real time into the PC memory. The Picolo Jet-X allows sending to the PC the original image or the compressed one
The different acquisition and compression parameters are handled by DirectShow filters (preliminary) or MultiCam parameters. Those interfaces are delivered with all Euresys video-capture boards

Quick switching

Adding three Video Expansion Brackets, the Picolo Jet-X provides the four digitizers with sixteen inputs. This maximum configuration leads to a 16-camera system. The four digitizers of the Picolo Jet-X board are switching between these inputs at a very high rate.

64-bit, 133 MHz PCI-X bus for an impressive accuracy in the data transmission

The Picolo Jet-X fully takes advantage of the computer PCI-X bus and its theoretical bandwidth greater than 1 GB/s. Connection to such a high capability bus drastically reduces the latencies on the bus and the risk of fifo-overrun errors and data losses. In addition, it allows the parallel use of many Picolo Jet-X in the same PC.

PCI compatibility

The PCI-X bus of the Picolo Jet-X is compatible with all the conventional PCI slots of a PC: from 32-bit, 33 MHz -5V-to 64-bit, 66 MHz -3V-. This PCI-X bus is also compatible with any other PCI-X slot: from 64-bit, 66 MHz -3V- to 64-bit, 133 MHz -3V-.
